Bajan songwriter and international pop star Shontelle, headed down anxiously to Jamaica yesterday for a highly island anticipated finals event, ‘Pulse Caribbean Model Search’. Since her meteoric rise to stardom, Shontelle has only performed in the Caribbean once, and that was in Trinidad some years ago.
Speaking to ZIP FM earlier this week, she said Jamaica was the creative and cultural capital of the Caribbean and mentioned some of the collaborations she had done with local stars such as Beenie Man. However, she has never been to Jamaica and is looking forward to performing for their audience. Shontelle also said nobody should expect just a cameo performance from her. Shontelle, as the headliner on the night, performed of her “T-Shirt”, her new smash single “Perfect Nightmare” and “Impossible”.

She really can sing, her voice was clear and I could hear every word. She communicated with the audience and that’s always a big in my opinion. I am very satisfied, she used up the stage, walked around, sang with some members of the audience and even gave a girl the mic for a sec. T-Shirt was a good opener as people knew it, not many people knew Perfect Nightmare, but most people knew Impossible.Jamaica is a VERY hard crowd to please and she got lots of applause and screams which is a HARD thing to get in JA. Rihanna had a hard time pleasing JA on her previous 2 occasions here, trust me, JA is not a nice crowd, trust me, I was there. Rihanna had to dig deep and then she finally got crowd response and cheers. Lol, this is waaay back in 2006 and 2007 tho. Shontelle also has a nice personality, she was very receptive of persons wanting to take pics.
