Website History

ShontelleOnline started in November 2008, but Shontelle Layne started to become a rising star in Barbados since 2005. Then she was signed to SRP/SRC/Universal Motown in 2007.

Since then, I’ve had a keen eye on her and always favored her music, the first song that caught my attention was ‘Colours’ which was the 2005 party monarch song in Barbados.

Over the years of watching her, and most recently, Shontelle struck me to be a beautiful and genuine person who cared alot about her fans and loved to interact with them, not to forget a great singer aswell. There aren’t many people in this world that can take the time out of their “busy” lives to stop and care for others – it is especially rare for a “celebrity”.

I have been doing websites for over 3 years now, gaining my experience from Rihannadaily.com with my buddy Rodrigo from Brazil, but this time I decided that it was time to expand and create something fresh and different. I needed a website that I would not only learn something from, but something that would be a good use of my free time.

Around October 2008, when Shontelle broke out into the music industry with her first hit single ‘T-Shirt’, I decided it was definitely time to have a Shontelle site now. After countless names were thrown out – I decided to settle with the site name Shontelle Online. I started putting all my acquired knowledge over the years into this site and I’m hoping to grow with Shontelle all the way to the top, non of this would of been possible without the the help of great experienced friends like Devin, my Shontelle web partner, as well as my great buddy Rodrigo. I’m also very lucky to have support from Shontelle herself and her production team SRP Records with this website.

In November we launched ShontelleOnline, with just a temporary default wordpress theme. We worked on a new ‘Caribbean’ inspired layout for about a month and by December 26th 2008 it was launched – it was called the ‘Official ShontelleOnline Website Launch’. Many visitors and friends complimented on the new design and it inspired others aswell. This version was named ‘Island Shores 1.0′ and it was designed and coded by Devin with the assistance of my friend Ryvos.
