Above is a small sneak peek of Shontelle on the set of her “Impossible” videoshoot! It was shot in L.A yesterday with director TAJ, the lead man for the video was singer/model Steph Jones. Much more exclusive sneak peeks and footage coming soon…
‘Rise Again’ – the song written by international reggae sensation and Grammy Award-winning artist, Shaggy, to support the relief efforts following the devastating earthquake that rocked Haiti on 12th January – is available on iTunes for download and purchase for 99 cents (US) now with the artists and label donating their proceeds to the Digicel Haiti relief fund.
‘Rise Again’ is a Caribbean song, which was written and performed by Caribbean artists for the people of Haiti. And with the New York Times hailing the song as “fast becoming a post-quake anthem,” ‘Rise Again’ has had a fantastic reception and is already getting heavy rotation radio airplay and news coverage across the globe.
Directed by internationally renowned film and video director, Jay Will, and filmed around Port Royal in Jamaica, the video’s central theme is of people from across the Caribbean coming together to rebuild Haiti and help the people of Haiti to rise again.
Artists featured on ‘Rise Again’ include Shaggy; Sean Paul; Sean Kingston; Barbadian Artists, Alison Hinds, Shontelle Layne and Edwin Yearwood; Trinidadian Soca Artists, Destra Garcia, David Rudder and Kes Dieffenthaller; Jamaican reggae artists, Tessanne Chin and Etana; and Haitian artiste, Belo. The track was produced by Christopher Birch.
Earlier this month, Shontelle had a photoshoot in Brooklyn (NY) with celebrity photographer “Robert Ascroft”, for her upcoming album “No Gravity“, slated for a Spring 2010 release on SRP/SRC/Universal Motown Records.
The highly anticipated sophomore album is expected to have a much harder and edgier sound, nothing like what fans would expect from her. The stunning lead single “IMPOSSIBLE” (produced by Arnthor Birgisson) impacted radio yesterday and will be available on US iTunes next week! (February 9th, 2010)
With such follow-ups as “DJ Made Me Do It“, “Kiss You Up“, “Say Hello To Goodbye“, and collaborations with hit makers Sean Garrett, “No Doubt’s” Tony Kanal, and Akon protégées Rock City, Shontelle has crafted an album loaded with smashes that will keep her high on the charts throughout 2010 and beyond. The new music video is scheduled to be shot in Los Angeles early February with director “TAJ” (Anthony Mandler’s protégé).
Finally it’s here! The WORLD Premiere of Shontelle’s “LICKY (Under the Covers)” music video directed by Ray Kay who is best known for filming the music videos for artists like Beyonce, Ciara, Lady Gaga and other well known artists.
The song was released in November on iTunes as an introduction to Shontelle’s sophmore album, and will be serviced to clubs while her official lead single “Impossible” impacts US radio early February. Stay tuned for the official premiere and it’s single cover this week!
The electronic influence track “Licky (Under the Covers)” was produced by DJ Frank E and written by singer/producer Sean Garrett. Look out for her lead single “Impossible” from her upcoming as-yet untitled sophomore album due Spring 2010!
After much frustration expressed by her UK fans regarding always getting music released there after the US, Shontelle promised them via Twitter, that she would try to change this.
Because of the overwhelming love from her UK fans and the major success of T-Shirt in that market, she will be releasing a double sided single, in which Licky will impact the UK 1st, while her other lead single “Impossible” impacts US radio. Licky will follow up as the official 2nd single leading into Summer after “Impossible” in the US.
Here is a tease of exclusive stills from Shontelle’s “Licky” video shoot. We’ll do a more detailed fashion post later on when the music video premieres. Her official US lead single “Impossible” may also be premiering right here tomorrow! AMAZING! Make sure you keep checking back.
“Licky (Under the Covers)” is the infectious lead single from Barbadian singer Shontelle’s as-yet-untitled sophomore studio album. According to Radio1 (Greece) the song officially be sent to radio in January, 2010. Click here to see the single cover.
It has a much different vibe than material from Shontelle’s debut album “Shontelligence”, with a more pop/dance electronic influence. “Licky” was written by singer/songwriter Sean Garrett and produced by DJ Franke. The song hook samples the European dance hit, “Licky”, by Larry Tee featuring Princess Superstar.
As mentioned before, the music video will be shot on November 18, 2009 in Los Angeles with well known music video director Ray Kay (Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Amerie, Sean Paul, Ciara, The Backstreet Boys, Adam Lambert). JaQuel Knight (Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies”) also had part in contributing towards the choreography for the video.

Shontelle shot a brand new music video with director Jessy Terrero, for her next official U.K single “Battle Cry” in Los Angeles on March 19, 2009 [Videoshoot Photos]. The last “Battle Cry” music video which most of you would have already seen was an Obama Tribute version for having her on his “Yes We Can: Voices of Grass Roots Movement” compilation album.
The music video has a quite simple concept, but most importantly without a doubt it has a very moving, glossy and glamorous effect, with a powerful message shining through about people uniting as one, and togetherness. Shontelle looks gorgeous. This is our Battle Cry.
Watch the music video above and then leave a comment tell us what you think!
