Everyone request Battle Cry at your local Radio Station! Let’s make it #1 !! A few days ago we wrote about the iTunes charting success of Shontelle’s infectious new single “BATTLE CRY” prior it’s official release. On August 10th, Battle Cry was officially released, it hits radio airplay with lots of upcoming promo in the UK. Already it’s had a good start peaking at #55 and rising on the iTunes Top 100 UK chart! It is one of her most uplifting songs from her debut album, Shontelligence. The song’s message struck such a powerful, positive message that it was proudly used on President Barack Obama’s campaign compilation CD “Yes We Can: Voices of Grass Roots Movement.” If there’s one thing you need to know about Barbados-born beauty Shontelle, it’s that she’s all about unity. ILikeMusic Review: Shontelle – Battle CryPosted by Kedrew | Categories: Latest News, Shontelle Music, Shontelligence, United Kingdom
Although Shontelle, (23), stopped swimming for Barbados and finished studying at University in 2008, she spent the year successfully adding a number of extra strings to her creative and professional bow. Using her knowledge of the law and following in the entrepreneurial footsteps of her father (who runs the biggest sports chain in the Caribbean), Shontelle founded her own Bajan based publishing company. Meanwhile she was picked up as both a songwriter and a singer in her own right by the management company of her childhood friend Rihanna and signed a recording deal with SRC, the Island Def Jam imprint run by the legendary music industry mogul Steve Rifkin (of Loud and Wu Tang fame). Fast forward to 2009, and already Shontelle has blown crowds away when supporting both New Kids on the Block and Beyonce on the European legs of their tours, has had over 50 Millions plays on her myspace, and has scored an international hit with her Wayne Wilkins produced debut single T-Shirt which remained in the top ten of the UK i-tunes and/or sales chart for just under a month. Now Shontelle is gearing up to release the third cut from her debut album Shontelligence. Battle Cry is not only an anthem, but a future classic. As rousing and inspiring as it is radio-friendly and infectious, it is unsurprising that when Barack Obama heard Battle Cry he asked Shontelle for her permission to include the song on his Campaign Trail compilation album Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots. Battle Cry is produced by Wayne Wilkins, the UK born Chart topping producer responsible for hits from Natasha Bedingfield and Leona Lewis. It is released through Island Records, available from the 10th August 2009. DOWNLOAD: Shontelligence Album | T-Shirt Single |

“No Games is actually still gaining in spins across the country,” said Serani’s manager. “This record just won’t go away. Its still getting added to playlists in many states across the country every week so it continues to spread.” Serani recently recorded a remix for No Games with songstress Shontelle, while on tour in the UK. Shontelle scored big in the UK with her recent hit “T-Shirt” and being label mates Universal Music made the match and hooked up the two artists. Universal/Island Records will release the No Games + remix package digitally on July 6th. “Shontelle was great to work with,” said Serani. “She’s a very talented songwriter and she has a great personality so the chemistry was good in the studio. J-Status feat. Shontelle – Pieces (Final Version)Posted by Kedrew | Categories: Collaborations, Shontelle Music, ShontelleOnline Exclusive
As posted before, a Jamaican R&B/Reggae band named ‘J-Status’ originally had a single named ‘Pieces’ which was on their Myspace for a couple months now, in January 2009 a new ‘revamped’ version surfaced the internet and featured Shontelle on the track adding to it an even more tropical reggae vibe. We now bring to you the “final” version of the track – with added Shontelle vocals in the beginning and throughout the song. Check out the song below: Some of you may already be familiar with J-Status – Back in 2006, Shontelle and Sheldon Benjamin, the composers of Alison Hind’s “Roll It Gal” re-wrote and re-produced the song for the band J-Status and named it “Roll it” – This same J-Status version was also performed with Rihanna and Shontelle herself in their first music video, and the song never died since! Shontelle’s debut album ‘Shontelligence’ also has her own version of ‘Roll It’ Download this song (click here) & also check out J-Status Myspace! |

Alliance star Serani’s bonafide hit “No Games” has landed at the #1 spot on America’s reggae iTunes Chart for the first time, knocking Bob Marley’s timeless classic “Three Little Birds” off the top spot. Having been selling thousands of downloads and ringtones for months, No Games has been flirting with the #1 spot for sometime, but now replaces Bob Marley’s anthem, that sells an average of 5,500 a week in downloads on iTunes.
