I had my tickets booked to see Shontelle on Saturday 26th in Manchester before hearing the news that she had an after party at circle club on the Friday, so I decided to be a bit backwards and to make a weekend of it and go to both, then to top of an incredible schedule, Shontelle’s album signing at Shuch was announced.
The most amazing weekend of my life was set. We got to the album signing a few hours early and joined the queue, we got talking to some other goons that were infront of us before starting the hobo trend that would soon spread throughout the queue . They were all lovely, we ended up meeting at the other two events with Shontelle and music as a topic of convo time flew and it was time!
Shontelle came strutting down the road like she was straight off the catwalk and a scrum of over hyped fans squashed into the store. She was absolutely lovely with all the fans and unbelievably stunning. When I was up to get my copy of No Gravity signed I asked her if she could sign Shontelligence too because it is my favourite album in the entire world after all, and she was just like ‘aww you have that too’ and took time to sign both. I was shaking like a baby’s rattle and once I introduced my self as Sammy from Twitter, lots of hugs followed and she said I was quiet, the biggest sentence I could string along at this minute was “because it’s you” which was a bit pathetic but true.
I had just met one of the biggest inspirations in my life, the woman who’s music inspires me on a daily basis, one of the greatest artists to ever grace the earth, so I was ever so slightly star struck and in shock. There was at least sixty eager beavers waiting to get their albums signed but she still took a few minutes to chat. When I was leaving someone asked me to take their picture and I was still shaking all over the place so that one might be a bit blurred (sorry) but when she seen she thought she would smack my cap down my face, I’d be calling my lawyer, but seen as the lawyer could have potentially been her that might be a no go =)
I skipped all the way back and then later on all the way to the club for her appearance. Circle Club quickly packed out and Shontelle arrived and was partying in her booth, chatting to fans and getting pictures. I spoke to her another couple of times and when I asked her how to do a proper dutty wine a little lesson followed from the ultimate bajan G, bend ya knees and whip your hair, I still just resemble a dying chicken though, it was one of the most surreal moments of my life. I reeled off everyone who wanted me to say Hi and she said to make sure I send her love. When her bouncer was trying to move me on so the next person could get a pic she told me not to listen to him and kept hold of me to finish the convo. Her performance was mad and had the whole club going off, she owned the crowd and gave it her all. I have never met such a lovely person, beautiful inside and out, down to earth, and just a funny sod.
It was Take 2 on Saturday and her performance was the best I have I ever seen, flawless vocals, beautiful dress, an amazing set, perfection. I could get my dutty wine on too with her performing my favorite roll it gal.
A big thank you to Shontelle for continuing to be an inspiration to many, with all the talent in the world she still makes time to touch the hearts of many, not only through her music but by being such an incredible person and outstanding character.
(Thanks Sammy for sharing your story with us!)

The first encounter we had with Shontelle was on Monday, 21st February, she performed at the Assembly Rooms in Derby, on the Jason Deluro Tour. As huge fans, my friends and I decided to drive down to Derby but without tickets for the show! We were just hoping to meet Shontelle outside after the gig, which after around 8 hours of waiting, our chance FINALLY came!

Last night (23rd February 2011) Shontelle performed as the opening act at the sold out 02 Academy in Glasgow. After dazzling the 2,500 strong crowd with her wonderful personality and excellent live vocal, not to mention looking like a princess wearing a neon pink dress, I attempted to meet her as she left the venue.
